And your target audience is

A fair proportion of our clients have ‘CIO’ as their primary target audience. We have internal research to helps us build a picture of a ‘typical’ CIO, and where he gets his (and yes, he generally is a he) most trusted information from (his direct reports and other CIOs head the list).

But what also proves useful is IDG’s aptly named CIO title, which helpfully lists the CIOs and the UK’s top 100 users of IT. The list also provides a gentle reminder of just why the public sector is everyone’s favourite vertical – 23 of the UK’s largest 100 users of IT are in the public sector.

Silicon’s CIO50 is also a great source of information, although this is a poll based on ability and achievement (as determined by peer-voting) as opposed to sheer IT spend.

With more and more vehicles being created to celebrate successful CIOs, it’s worth tech companies asking them selves if they are making the most of their customer advocates. A personal recommendation from a CIO, peer to peer, is worth its weight in awards.
