In the same way that footballers often revert to clichés such as ‘over the moon,’ ‘sick as a parrot,’ ‘game of two halves’ and ‘well, she looked over 16,’ I often slip into the same lazy shorthand by comparing online communication with pub conversation.
This being Chameleon’s newly modeled ‘online communication tool’ (aka “blog type forum thing”), we bid you welcome to our local. Very nice to see you, make yourself at home.
There’s some slightly more formal areas of the site, imagine a lounge bar with relatively clean carpet, which gives details of our services, case studies and the like. There’s also a tap room for debate, thoughts, rants and witticisms. Occasionally you might catch a peak of someone outside sparking up a Marlboro light.
Unlike the real local pubs where I grew up, where the conversation stops when a stranger walks in and heads with bewildered eyes turn round to stare at you, you’re more than welcome to pop yourself down on a stool, grab a drink and join in the banter.
