UK CIOs are surly, says new research…
Posted by Steve Loynes October 23 2009 08:47am
As part of one of our multi-country client campaigns, we commissioned some primary research looking at CIO attitudes on a particular technology issue.
At the end of the questionnaire we asked if the CIO would be happy to discuss the topic further and perhaps feature as a case study in a forthcoming research report.
You’ve got to love the British.

On occasion I like to check really obvious things. Just to make sure. Like ringing up First Direct at 3am, just to make sure it is a 24 hour service.
Having spent some time researching seasonal use of Google search terms, I thought I’d quickly do an obvious check. So, what’s the seasonal pattern behind the search term ‘fireworks display?’
Peaks late October, early November. Every year.
Good, that’s fairly conclusive then.

The man, the myth, the legend

There’s a reverential silence in Chameleon today, as we try to catch furtive glances of Simon Burberry – one of PRWeek’s newly appointed 29 under 29. I spoke to him earlier this morning, but I got all embarrassed and didn’t know what to say. So I made him a cup of tea instead.
Word of Simon’s majestic PR skills has spread quickly. Emma Watson’s agent has been in touch to see if she can be “the new face of Burberry.” Three headhunter firms have already called, and his LinkedIN requests are through the roof.
The impact of Burberry being recognized 29 under 29 is reverberating around Chameleon’s offices. We’ve had to change his office nickname from Chavvy to Savvy. We’re going to have to indulge his critical eye-rolling, meticulous Excel-centric planning and fastidious attention to detail all the more.
Give it another week or two of all the fawning, and I anticipate diva-like tantrums and detailed riders. Fresh flowers every morning, decaffeinated green tea (stirred anti-clockwise), a Feng Shui office furniture policy and lunchtime de-stress massage. On the printer I’ve just seen plans for a secret command centre under the Pacific….
We’re looking forward to his 30th birthday.
