Sustainability approach

The Brundtland Commission definition of sustainable development has become one of the most used and the one Reptile Group (Chameleon PR & Komodo PR) aligns with. The definition states development that “meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

The Reptile Group is doing a number of things to make the group an environmentally sustainable business, and make sustainable choices in our business.

Chameleon are keeping it green:

The following practices are in place to help reach the revised targets:

  • An ‘end of day office exit procedure’ where each Reptile takes full responsibility for powering down the office equipment
  • Printers are set to double-sided printing. Staff have to opt for single sided printing and this should only be in special cases (i.e client requests)
  • All the large waste bins in the office area are for recycled waste

In addition to the above, we continue to focus on:

Reduction in travel -

  • Only travel when necessary
  • Preferred form of travel is rail & tube, over driving or flying
  • Walking or cycling would be the ideal

Offsetting CO2 -

  • Detail of all work travel recorded via our internal systems

Every year we offset the emissions with the World Land Trust, next offsetting exercise due July 2010 http://www.carbonbalanced.org/index.asp

  • The following statement is issued to all our clients via their disbursement invoices
  • If there is any travel listed on this invoice we have offset the emissions with the World Land Trust on your behalf

Ensuring 100% of our suppliers have ‘green policies’ -

  • Sharing our sustainability policy with all suppliers
  • Establishing current suppliers have ‘green policies’
  • Requesting to view the ‘green policy’ of new suppliers
  • Share/Bookmark
